"That Guy," guest contributing writer of mitchsdailydish.com returns with a compelling piece entitled "Dead The Slavery Mentality." Please don't get offended. This is solely for entertainment purposes. Dont' get bent out of shape. Please note, that the opinions reflected in the piece are not those of mitchsdailydish.com. In other words, people are free to say whatever they want, I'm just passing it along. Check it out:"I want to ask a question-- Who's willing to answer it honestly, without giving me a bullshit answer ?
Why is it that as African Americans, the race that suffered from slavery, we still use that shit as a crutch for our short comings & downfalls in life? (And as you're still reading this, don't answer that just yet).
Although we are descendants of slavery, it doesn't define us as who we are, nor should we continue to live with a slave's mentality! I say this because African Americans, are more intelligent than people realize, and that's because a lot of times the majority of the race choose to be ignorant, which has lead the rest of the world to think that's who we are and how we all behave.
I think it's far beyond the time for someone to step up and take the wool off 1the eyes of the minority. We come from the bottom & if history continues to repeat itself we will stay at the bottom.
If you take a look at White America, they hold one another down, they share their secrets of success, & they break bread with one another.
You look at the Black people in corporate America & and it's not the same, the 1st nigga to make it to the top, is more than likely just going to look out for themselves. Like I'm not telling these other niggas shit, nobody's going to take my spot. This is were the bullshit of continuing to use that slave's mentality comes into play, when one of us learns about something new, we don't want to share our knowledge or insight, because we want to stay ahead the rest of our own kind.
I'm tired of seeing black people struggle and faking until they make it, when they DO NOT have to ! It's 2010, our nation's President is BLACK. Now is not the time to let the hard work, the blood, the sweat, & the tears of our Civil Rights Leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks and so forth go down the drain! These people put in madd hustle & muscle to give us a voice, to make other races wake up and see we are capable of conducting ourselves in an educated & professional manner. That we too, can be scientists, doctors, lawyers, judges, journalists, firemen, police officers, meteorologists, that damn it whatever profession is out there, we can go all the way in and make shit happen.
I'm tired of niggas using slavery and "the man" for holding them back from doing something productive with their time & their life. Slavery was endured by our ancestors, so it didn't have to become us, that shit entitles you, to exactly what you have, A LIFE OF FREEDOM, so dead that "I want my 40 acres & a mule movement," for what reason? You didn't even do shit to earn anything, or do some of you not realize that?
BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, so let's show the rest of the world that. Although I'm multiracial, that shit doesn't exclude me from getting stereotyped or racial profiled, and I want the rest of the world to realize that although we all come from different color-tones & shades of brown, my people are beautiful, intelligence is beautiful, our hustle is beautiful !
If you want other races & cultures to stop looking at Black people funny, then start behaving & interacting with the rest of the world differently than what they expect and assume we are.
I myself am learning to think more before I speak. When you drop knowledge and have
I'm out to get mines, by any means necessary, I'm here to challenge my culture & push it forward, so if you rolling with me the world is ours & if you're not, go educate yourself, or just let society fucking kill you !
So now, you can answer my initial question, "Why is that as African Americans, the race that suffered from slavery, we still use that shit as a crutch for our short comings & downfalls in life?"
