Update: Sean Kingston In Stable Condition!

Singer Sean Kingston who was injured in a jet ski accident yesterday on Miami Beach is in stable condition. According to CNN.com, he has been moved to the ICU.

Singer Sean Kingston has been moved from the trauma center of a Miami hospital to its intensive-care unit a day after he and a female passenger were injured in a Jet Ski accident, his publicist said Monday.

"Sean Kingston is now stabilized," said Joe Carozza, Kingston's publicist at Epic Records, in a statement.

Hip-hop singer Trav, who features Kingston in his latest song, said Monday Kingston is "doing well. He just opened his eyes this morning."

Jorge Pino, spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said the watercraft apparently crashed when it went under a small bridge about 6 p.m.

They were taken to Jackson-Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

Carozza said Sunday night in a statement that the 21-year-old musician "was in an accident."

Trav told CNN Sunday night in an e-mail he visited Kingston at the hospital and "he is good in stable condition."

Alicia Keys Reflects On A Decade In The Business In W Mag!

Singer Alicia Keys is featured in W magazine June's issue. The singer reflects on her debut ten years ago in the business. Keys credits her longevity for staying true to herself.

“I just wanted to be who I was, which was like so many other girls I knew,” Alicia tells the magazine. “We grew up in the city, had a hard edge and obstacles to overcome, but we were still young and beautiful. I didn’t want to be all dressed up, all made up—I wanted to be myself, which hadn’t been done before.”

Sean Kingston Hospitalized Following Jet Ski Accident!

Singer Sean Kingston has been hospitalized and is in serious condition following a jet ski accident yesterday on Miami Beach. According to EW, his publicist has confirmed that the singer was injured but no additional info has been given.

Singer Sean Kingston was injured Sunday in an accident, his publicist confirms to EW. Further details were not provided in the brief statement made available by his rep, but a source told CNN that Kingston (real name Kisean Anderson) was injured in a Jet Ski accident and taken to a Florida trauma center Sunday evening. His current condition was not given.

The watercraft apparently crashed when it went under a small bridge about 6 p.m., injuring the singer and a female passenger. Officials were still investigating the cause.

Eddie Long Settles With Accusers!

Well, well, well, looky, looky... Bishop Eddie Long has settled out of court with the four men that accused him of sexual coersion. If you don't recall the story, go for a refresher right here. Why did he choose to settle instead of fighting for justice? F*ckouttahere Long. I will say it again, show me the straight dude sending other dudes pics of himself in biker shorts. Smh...

Bishop Eddie Long, the Atlanta-based megachurch leader, has reached an out-of-court settlement with four young men who accused him of sexual coercion, representatives for both sides said Thursday.

B.J. Bernstein, the attorney representing the men, said in a statement that the lawsuits against Long and his church have “been resolved.”

Bernstein's two-paragraph statement said that neither she nor the accusers would talk about the lawsuits “now or in the future.”

Art Franklin, a Long spokesman, said Thursday that the pastor settled because it “is the most reasonable road for everyone to travel.”

“This decision was made to bring closure to this matter and to allow us to move forward with the plans God has for this ministry,” Franklin said in a statement.

Long is an internationally known televangelist who crusaded against gay marriage, and the lawsuits against him drew national attention.

The settlement comes eight months after Long, the senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Church in Lithonia, Georgia, said from the pulpit of his 25,000 member megachurch that he vowed to fight the accusations against him, with the congregation cheering in response.

Long entered into mediation talks in February. According to news reports, the sessions between Long and his four accusers - Anthony Flagg, Maurice Robinson, Jamal Parris and Spencer LeGrande - were tense.

The suits accused Long of using his position to coerce the men into having sexual relationships with him while they were teenage members of his congregation.

The lawsuits say Long engaged in intimate sexual acts with the young men, such as massages, masturbation and oral sex.

Long took the young men on trips including to Kenya, according to the suits. He allegedly enticed the young men with gifts including cars, clothes, jewelry and electronic items.

Long's attorneys deny those allegations and maintain that the pastor was attempting to be a father figure to the youths by providing them with financial assistance and encouragement.

Though no trial will now take place, Long may face the judgment of his congregation and fans worldwide.

Shayne Lee, a sociology professor at Tulane University in Louisiana and an authority on televangelists, said Long’s out of court settlement may erode some of his support.

“When you settle outside of court, it implies that there’s some guilt involved,” said Lee, author of "Holy Mavericks: Evangelical Innovators and the Spiritual Marketplace."

“To the average congregation in the black church, those are some very serious charges,” Lee said, referring to the men’s charges against Long. “You can’t settle outside of court. You have to fight and roll up your sleeves, be defiant and fight it.”

Since the scandal had erupted, attendance at Long’s church had fallen, and New Birth officials have announced plans to lay off staff and cut Long’s salary.

But Lee said it would be premature to think that Long will retreat from the pulpit.

“He can say ‘I still have my anointing and I still have my ministry,’ ’’ Lee said. “He can say that God is working out the weeds so that the tree has a stronger foundation.”

The four men’s accusations stunned many of Long’s followers. A married man, Long had often preached about the sanctity of marriage. He once led a march against gay marriage.

Long had also cultivated a public image that was built on his machismo. He wore tight muscle shirts in the pulpit. He wrote books that compared Christian men to spiritual gladiators. He told people he had a special calling to reach men.

One Atlanta pastor predicted Long will survive the scandal because his core audience will forgive him.

“Black folks have very short memories,” said the Rev. Tim McDonald, senior pastor of First Iconium Baptist Church in Atlanta. “We are the most forgiving people on the planet."

McDonald, who said he has talked privately with Long since the scandal erupted, said Long “went into a shell” after the accusations against him went public.

Before the scandal erupted, Long would often publicly criticize other black pastors, and once said they “major in storefront buildings,” suggesting that they lacked the business acumen to build a megachurch like he had.

But Long had shown a different public face lately, McDonald said. His entourage wasn’t as big; he was more visible in the community.

“I found him opening up,” McDonald said. “If he can pick that back up and humble himself and stop saying things like, ‘I ain’t just another chicken-eating preacher,’ he’ll survive.”

Lee, the Tulane sociologist, said Long will remain in the pulpit for another reason.

“This is what he knows,” Lee said. “He’s not going to be able to sell insurance or cars. He’s cocky. He’s confident. He believes in redemption.”

It was all about the engagements and the weddings this past weekend. Singer Keyshia Cole and fiance, Cleveland Cavaliers, Daniel "Boobie" Gibson got hitched this past weekend. UsMagazine.com is reporting that they married in a private ceremony. The couple has a baby boy.

"It's OFFICIAL!" Cleveland Cavaliers player Gibson wrote. "Mr. and Mrs. Gibson. We appreciate all the well wishes."

CNN Anchor Don Lemon Announces That He Is Gay!

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it... CNN anchor Don Lemon announced tonight that he was gay by using Ascot Media and Aston Publicity Groups' innovative announcement tool 'In My Own Words' (IMOW) as the vehicle in which to speak out. In a statement this is what he had to say.

Today I chose to step out on faith and begin openly living my own truth. And let me say right up front that I hope many of you will be inspired to do the same thing in your daily lives. Some of the things I’ve chosen to reveal in my book Transparent were very difficult to share with even those closest to me.

There was a time when I was terrified of revealing these things to the person I love most in this world - my own mother. But when I finally mustered the courage to tell her that I had been molested as a child and that I was born gay, my life began to change in positive ways that I never imagined possible. Yet I still chose to keep those secrets hidden from the world. I, like most gay people, lived a life of fear. Fear that if some employers, co-workers, friends, neighbors and family members learned of my sexuality, I would be shunned, mocked and ostracized. It is a burden that millions of people carry with them every single day. And sadly, while the mockery and ostracizing are realized by millions of people every day, I truly believe it doesn’t have to happen and that’s why I feel compelled to share what I’ve written in Transparent.

As a journalist I believe that part of my mission is to shed light onto dark places. So, the disclosure of this information does not inhibit in any way my ability to be the professional, fair and objective journalist I have always been.

My book is dedicated to the memory of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who jumped to his death from a bridge after his dorm mates streamed his private business over the Internet for the world to see. Tyler might still be with us today if more gay men and women had chosen to live proudly and openly. It is also dedicated to the millions of young, gay people who believe they are alone when dealing with their own sexual identities. You are not alone! There are people, like me and many others, who are thriving in their personal and professional lives and although we sometimes have a hard time with it ourselves, we are here to show you by example that you too can overcome any obstacle as long as you stay strong and, most of all, stay alive.”

I'm not surprised. I remember when the Eddie Long situation came out, he spoke about being molested by a male (this is not why I thought he was gay) and being confused. I just felt at the time there was so much more he wanted to say...I always had a feeling he was on the other side. There was just something about him... Well, I'm happy that he is speaking HIS truth and now he can be at peace.

It's a new day for Haiti as former music artist, Michel Joseph Martelly was sworn in yesterday as the 56th President of the country. In the last 25 years, Haiti has been unsuccessful in the political arena to say the least but the new President is promising CHANGE. Haitians are hopeful and believe that he will make a difference because of the vision that he has for the country. Road Trip Actress Mia Amber Davis Dead At 36!

Plus size model and actress, Mia Amber Davis best known for her role as Rhonda on Road Trip has died one day after undergoing knee surgery. She was 36.

The beautiful star reportedly underwent a routine knee surgery in Los Angeles but passed away a day later. Mia's husband Michael Yard told TMZ that his wife went under the knife on Monday to correct an ongoing issue on her knee which stemmed from an old college basketball injury. Yard was in New York at the time of Davis' surgery and said he spoke to her on Tuesday morning and she sounded normal and in good spirits. But just hours later, Yard said he received a telephone call from Davis' cousin to inform him that she was taking Davis to the hospital because she was feeling dizzy. And soon after, he received another call to tell him that his wife had passed away.

Mia was also an advocate for full figured women. R.I.P.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver Call It Quits!

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver have decided to go their seperate ways after after 25 years of marriage. Dayum! They announced their seperation late Monday night. The couple has four children.

"This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us," the duo said in a joint statement to the Los Angeles Times.

"After a great deal of reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision. We are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship."

"We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives," the couple adds. "We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment."

"We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public."

I really didn't see this one coming. Wowzers... I wish them all the best.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Name Twins!

"Dem babies" affectionately referred to by new mom and dad Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have their official government names. Mariah Carey who gave birth to fraternal twins this past weekend, named their children Moroccan and Monroe Cannon.

Singer Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon said on Wednesday they have named their new twin babies Moroccan and Monroe.

The twins -- a boy and a girl -- were born in a Los Angeles hospital on Saturday, on the couple's third wedding anniversary.

An announcement on Carey's official website on Wednesday said that her daughter is named Monroe Cannon -- after Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.

Carey said the late actress has been a lifelong inspiration, adding that she bought a white piano that once belonged to Monroe at an auction several years ago.

The announcement said her son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon, explaining that Scott is Cannon's middle name, as well as his grandmother's middle name.

Congrats to them.

Haiti Through My Eyes! Cap-Haitien Edition!

To some, all they know about Haiti is that it's the poorest country in the western hemisphere plagued by political violence. A place where people walk the streets begging and all children run naked. To others, it's an unknown spot on the geographic map. Haiti? Where's that? What is a Haitian? Even some who are from there have decided to give up on Haiti. You ever here a Haitian say that they're embarrassed to be from Haiti. Everyone has an opinion but yet, is not willing to contribute to the change. Sigh...MY Haiti, so misunderstood, so misrepresented. You are a place rich in history, full of pride but yet they continue to discount you. I always wonder when will it stop? When will they be able to see your true beauty beyond what's reported?

Oh My Haiti, how I love you so! I have vowed to continue to love you, to embrace you, to prove to those that are skeptical that you are still that jewel; once referred to as La Perle des Antilles (The Pearl of the Antilles) and in my eyes you still hold that title.

Some of my girls and I have decided to embark on a tour of our Haiti Cherie. In doing so, we will discover as well as revisit some common and even hidden places, beautiful treasures that our country has to offer. We will share our findings with those interested and some that may not be. One of my goals in life is to make sure that Haiti is represented in the right way. Although poverty is a major factor in Haiti but that is not what is all there.

Our first stop on our new found journey, Cap-Haitien. I had the pleasure of going back to Cap-Haitien two weeks ago. I hadn't been there since the age of 14. This trip was an amazing experience, a surreal one. I don't think I can even put in words how I felt. People underestimate the beauty of Cap-Haitien. Do you know the history that lies on this band of land? La Citadelle, Palais Sans Souci, Vertieres. Before rushing to judgement, take the time and do some research, go there and then make your assessment.

In closing, I leave you a few pictures of my memorable trip to Cap-Haitien. Haiti Cherie, I'm thankful for you. I am your daughter. I love you. You run through my veins. I am the woman who I am today because of YOU. Some may throw you away but rest assured, I could never do so. It's true what they say, "I didn't ask to be Haitian, I just got lucky" (Check)!
